| As a kid I had always expressed my creativity in
writing and fantasizing. I created greeting cards and wrote
stories and poetry. The only outlet to release this pent up
creativity were with paper, pens, pencils, crayons and paint. With the
availability of a PC, a printer and software creativity was
taken to a new level in 1989,. The greeting cards that were once done by
hand could now be created and printed with the new technology. A
faux company was created from all this, and the name given was inspired
from my father. It was named "Nice Guy Productions". The
first sub division was "PC Press" and had a logo of a PC with
legs. The name and
logo helped to make the greeting cards and flyers look "real".
The idea of registering for a personal domain and establishing a
presence on the World Wide Web was intriguing. In 1999,
right before the turn of the millennium, a decision was made to give creativity a boost by registering a domain name. Working in the IT field
at the time, processing other people's domains
as part of my job, enabled me to have a better grasp of what was required. At first
the thought was to register for the name "AppleJax.com" after my long
standing nickname, but it was taken by a rock group in Canada at the
time. Currently the domain does not support a site
per se, but does come up with a search engine when accessed.
A second attempt was made and the domain name, "MadeForTheWeb.com"
became the domain name of choice. It was a catchy domain name, one
that was better than the first choice. Initially the domain name
was used to present a personal site. As time passed the idea of sub-domains
was considered. It would maximize the available options when
presenting data. Current there are two sub-domains,
"personal" and "drama", to separate a unhealthy interest in Asian Multimedia
- I often go on hours watching streaming videos of dramas and movies off
the Internet. "Drama.madefortheweb.com" is a database of videos
I've watched since 2005. More sub-domains may be created in the
near future once I add more material to the "personal" sub.
Since the creation of the websites using the first domain name, two additional domains have been registered. One
domain, "72LowellAlumni73.org", is my contribution to my high school
alumni class. The other was to be used to showcase creative works
of mine. "CreatedForTheWeb.com" will require more inspiration and
motivation on my part. Lets just say it is a work in progress like
everything else
For now, please enjoy. |
